About Rafa

Rafa Kalapa (Alan Rafael Seid) grew up bilingual and bicultural in Mexico and the US.

For over 30 years he has been a researcher, student, and teacher of modalities for living in harmony within ourselves, with each other, and with the planet.

He took his first workshop with Dr. Marshall Rosenberg in 1995 and has been a CNVC Certified Trainer since 2003.

He coaches leaders and Changemakers who are working on themselves, on how to maximize their positive impact.

He lives in the North Cascades of Washington State, and is founder and co-convener of the Kalapa Wisdom School for Changemakers.

When he is unable to make it, Rafa has another Certified Trainer colleague cover the practice group!

“My friendships and business relationships have been strengthened as a result of Alan’s teachings and insights.”

~ KIM REDDINGTON, Entrepreneur, Technology Expert, Business Coach, Mom, Wife, Daughter

“...he knows his stuff backwards and forwards, is creative in synthesizing understandings, and lives with ENORMOUS integrity. I find him to be very inspiring…”

~ LUCY LEU, CNVC Certified Trainer; Former President of the Board, Center for Nonviolent Communication; Author: Nonviolent Communication Companion Workbook: A Practical Guide for Individual, Group or Classroom Study – California

“...instrumental in helping me retrain my perception and communication…”

Practice

NVC tools and skills

Expand

your understanding of how to apply NVC in life

Connect

with others who are also practicing and growing in their NVC knowledge and skills

This group is not:

✖  individual or group therapy

✖  individual coaching

✖  getting your needs for empathy met

Though we will practice empathy, the purpose of the group is different than that of offering individuals a place to get heard and empathically understood. We may be able to guide someone to further resources.

Develop your skills in community

NVC is a great set of tools that can help you with life’s biggest interpersonal challenges!

AND there’s a big difference between having a tool and being skillful with that tool.

When life's challenging situations and interactions show up — that is when you want your skills already developed!

You need three ingredients to become fluent in NVC:

  1. interior clarity
  2. a community of support
  3. consistent, regular practice

“My experience has been profoundly deep and very practical.”

~ CINDI LANDRETH, Vice-President A1 Builders and Adaptations Design Studio; Transition Whatcom, Live Workshop Series Participant

“I am more aware of how I experience the world, people, and myself in a more healthful, positive and intelligent manner than before…”

~ TOM BRENTON, Principal, Azimuth Homes, Live Workshop Series Participant

“...I now communicate my truths with confidence and in a way that brings me closer to people.”

~ DAVID NEINSTEIN, Business Founder and Community Developer
